Com o aumento da especula\u00e7\u00e3o, a santifica\u00e7\u00e3o diminui. Quanto mais adivinha\u00e7\u00e3o, menos b\u00ean\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Poucas pessoas dariam suas vidas por uma especula\u00e7\u00e3o. Poucos v\u00e3o arrancar um olho ou cortar a m\u00e3o, por causa de uma adivinha\u00e7\u00e3o. Suposi\u00e7\u00f5es fazem fracas exposi\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Este \u00e9 o tipo de coisa que eu tenho em mente.<\/p>\n<p>Pregadores, professores, e l\u00edderes de estudos b\u00edblicos \u00e0s vezes s\u00e3o tentados a especular porque as &#8220;possibilidades&#8221; s\u00e3o t\u00e3o interessantes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Por exemplo, o que dizer das poss\u00edveis apari\u00e7\u00f5es de Cristo no Antigo Testamento? Quando se diz que Deus estava andando no Jardim do \u00c9den (G\u00eanesis 3.8) poderia isto ter sido Cristo? Era Melquisedeque realmente o pr\u00f3prio Cristo em G\u00eanesis 14? Quando &#8220;o Senhor&#8221; apareceu a Abra\u00e3o em G\u00eanesis 18 foi isto uma apar\u00eancia pr\u00e9-encarnada de Cristo? Quando Jac\u00f3 lutou a noite toda com &#8220;um homem&#8221; (G\u00eanesis 32.24) era Cristo? Foi a quarta pessoa na fornalha ardente (Daniel 3.25) Cristo?<\/li>\n<li>Poderia a divis\u00e3o das \u00e1guas do Mar Vermelho ser explicada por Deus usando uma cat\u00e1strofe c\u00f3smica para criar as condi\u00e7\u00f5es atmosf\u00e9ricas que fizeram as \u00e1guas dividir?<\/li>\n<li>Havia um documento escrito contendo todo o material comum a Mateus e Lucas mas faltando em Marcos, que poder\u00edamos chamar de Q para o alem\u00e3o\u00a0<em>Quelle<\/em>, que significa fonte?<\/li>\n<li>Foi a pobreza, mais tarde, da igreja em Jerusal\u00e9m (Romanos 15.26) devida \u00e0 m\u00e1 aplica\u00e7\u00e3o da pol\u00edtica no in\u00edcio de ter &#8220;tudo em comum&#8221; (Atos 2:44, 4.32)?<\/li>\n<li>Era Paulo vi\u00favo? Ou ser\u00e1 que sua esposa o deixou quando ele se tornou um crist\u00e3o? Ele teve filhos?<\/li>\n<li>Ser\u00e1 que Maria Madalena tinha uma queda por Jesus? Jesus teve que lidar com mais tenta\u00e7\u00f5es do que geralmente pensamos?<\/li>\n<li>Quando Paulo proibiu mulheres de ensinar e ter autoridade sobre os homens em 1 Tim\u00f3teo 2.12 houve um problema na igreja como as mulheres tomando autoridade e ensinando, quando n\u00e3o estavam preparadas para faz\u00ea-los? Foi esta a \u00fanica raz\u00e3o pela qual Paulo proibiu-as \u2014 porque elas n\u00e3o estavam prontas?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-linkify=\"true\">Veja o que est\u00e1 l\u00e1<\/h2>\n<p data-linkify=\"true\">Meu ponto \u00e9 que as pessoas precisam de alimento s\u00f3lido, n\u00e3o alimento poss\u00edvel. Eles precisam de uma palavra segura de Deus, n\u00e3o uma suposi\u00e7\u00e3o do homem. Eles precisam de um b\u00edblico &#8220;Assim diz o Senhor,&#8221; n\u00e3o um &#8220;Talvez Deus disse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Um fascinante desvio homil\u00e9tico de cinco minutos sobre o que\u00a0<em>poderia<\/em>\u00a0estar acontecendo em Corinto por tr\u00e1s deste ou daquele texto \u00e9 um desperd\u00edcio de tempo precioso. E eu acho que isso treina o nosso povo a esperar interl\u00fadios de entretenimento hist\u00f3rico, e confundi-lo com uma vis\u00e3o profunda e alimento espiritual.<\/p>\n<p>O que realmente est\u00e1 l\u00e1 no texto da Escritura \u00e9 infinitamente profundo, e incrivelmente interessante, e provocante. Especula\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria para prender a aten\u00e7\u00e3o das pessoas. Se um pastor acha o que\u00a0<em>poderia<\/em>\u00a0ter sido mais interessante ao inv\u00e9s do que o que realmente est\u00e1 l\u00e1 no texto, ele precisa de melhores poderes de observa\u00e7\u00e3o, n\u00e3o melhores poderes de especula\u00e7\u00e3o. Ele precisa de uma sensa\u00e7\u00e3o melhor para a maravilha que\u00a0<em>\u00e9<\/em>, do que uma fantasia maior para o que\u00a0<em>poderia ter sido<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-linkify=\"true\">E sobre a poesia?<\/h2>\n<p data-linkify=\"true\">Duas qualifica\u00e7\u00f5es:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Poesia e prega\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o s\u00e3o a mesma coisa. Fic\u00e7\u00e3o esclarecedora e exposi\u00e7\u00e3o autorit\u00e1ria n\u00e3o s\u00e3o as mesmas. Adoro poesia e fic\u00e7\u00e3o. Estas s\u00e3o por natureza inventiva. Elas tamb\u00e9m t\u00eam o seu lugar e seu poder. Mas o poder santificador que elas t\u00eam \u00e9 devido decisivamente as verdades mais profundas que transmitem, n\u00e3o as estruturas imaginativas que elas transmitem.<\/li>\n<li>Quando um texto da Escritura \u00e9 aparentemente contradit\u00f3rio, e h\u00e1 pouco consenso sobre qual \u00e9 a solu\u00e7\u00e3o, \u00e9 \u00fatil para as pessoas verem uma ou duas\u00a0<em>poss\u00edveis<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>plaus\u00edveis<\/em>\u00a0solu\u00e7\u00f5es. Estas ser\u00e3o mais ou menos especulativas. N\u00f3s dizemos a nosso povo que n\u00e3o temos certeza da resposta. N\u00f3s n\u00e3o queremos que elas tomem os nossos palpites como palavra de Deus. Mas oferecemos os nossos palpites para que elas possam ver pelo menos a possibilidade de que haja uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o aqui ao inv\u00e9s de uma contradi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 data-linkify=\"true\">Mergulhe mais profundamente<\/h2>\n<p data-linkify=\"true\">Ent\u00e3o eu digo mais uma vez, a necessidade desesperada no p\u00falpito e na sala de aula n\u00e3o \u00e9 a de gastar tempo especulando sobre o que poderia ter sido o caso, mas aprofundando-se no que realmente est\u00e1 l\u00e1 no texto. A maioria de n\u00f3s ainda est\u00e1 arranhando a superf\u00edcie.<\/p>\n<p>Se soubermos com certeza algo que n\u00e3o est\u00e1 na B\u00edblia, e vemos que derrama verdadeira luz sobre a B\u00edblia, isso \u00e9 outro assunto. Que assim seja. Mas a minha sensa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 de que a literatura secund\u00e1ria n\u00e3o \u00e9 mais f\u00e1cil de interpretar do que a B\u00edblia. O que significa que os textos secund\u00e1rios n\u00e3o s\u00e3o mais claros do que os textos b\u00edblicos que supostamente iluminam. \u00c9 uma coisa prejudicial ensinar seminaristas a ver a B\u00edblia como precisando de ajuda de fora, enquanto falham em ver que os documentos de fora tamb\u00e9m precisam de ajuda de fora.<\/p>\n<p>Pastores e professores t\u00eam um tempo muito limitado para o estudo.
