Johannes Gutenberg atingiu a maioridade na virada dos s\u00e9culos XIV e XV, quando o esp\u00edrito predominante da \u00e9poca era “Deus deve estar zangado”. \"\"Ele nasceu em uma fam\u00edlia de classe alta. Seu pai era ourives – “Companheiro da Casa da Moeda”, eles o chamavam – um fabricante de moedas e medalh\u00f5es. Falha na inicializa\u00e7\u00e3o<\/b><\/h3>\n

Infelizmente, Johannes n\u00e3o herdaria os neg\u00f3cios da fam\u00edlia. Uma revolta de guildas contra os empregadores, que inclu\u00eda o pai de Johannes, fez com que a fam\u00edlia se mudasse para Eltville. Ent\u00e3o, Johannes precisava buscar outras oportunidades de trabalho.<\/span><\/p>\n

Durante a devasta\u00e7\u00e3o da peste, o catolicismo romano promoveu um mercado consumidor extraordin\u00e1rio de bens e servi\u00e7os religiosos. Um Olho de Boi era um distintivo com um espelho que voc\u00ea deveria usar ao visitar rel\u00edquias em exposi\u00e7\u00e3o. A ideia era que, se o espelho do distintivo captasse o reflexo de uma rel\u00edquia, como voc\u00ea n\u00e3o poderia ser aben\u00e7oado? A Catedral de Aachen abrigava quatro das chamadas Grandes Rel\u00edquias na \u00e9poca, e ainda abriga: O manto de Maria, as faixas de Cristo, o pano de decapita\u00e7\u00e3o de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o e a vestimenta de Cristo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Johannes Gutenberg formou uma esp\u00e9cie de <\/span>start-up<\/span><\/i> com o objetivo de conquistar o mercado de Olhos de Boi na peregrina\u00e7\u00e3o de Aachen de 1439, projetada para atrair mais de 100.000 peregrinos. Aproveitando sua experi\u00eancia na fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o de moedas, ele planejou produzir em massa 32.000 Olhos de Boi e obter um lucro de 2.500% no empreendimento. Infelizmente, esse acabou sendo um ano de p\u00fablico ruim. O empreendimento faliu. Johannes Gutenberg e seus investidores perderam muito dinheiro. Mas no processo de engenharia da produ\u00e7\u00e3o do Olho de Boi, eles criaram alguma propriedade intelectual significativa.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lim\u00f5es em livros<\/b><\/h3>\n

A transmiss\u00e3o de conhecimento estava mudando da tradi\u00e7\u00e3o oral para manuais, diret\u00f3rios, hist\u00f3rias e relatos registrados. As pessoas queriam livros. A maior parte da demanda foi suprida por copistas e escribas que, quando trabalhavam seriamente, podiam ser capazes de lan\u00e7ar um \u00fanico – e queremos dizer um \u00fanico – volume de um coment\u00e1rio b\u00edblico uma vez a cada cinco anos. A inova\u00e7\u00e3o da impress\u00e3o em xilogravura ajudou na ado\u00e7\u00e3o do fornecimento de livros, mas os blocos de madeira n\u00e3o perdoavam erros, eram facilmente quebr\u00e1veis e limitados a um \u00fanico uso.<\/span><\/p>\n

O mundo mu\u00e7ulmano resistiu ao uso da impress\u00e3o por quatrocentos anos ap\u00f3s a inven\u00e7\u00e3o dos tipos m\u00f3veis. Assim, em uma janela \u00fanica da hist\u00f3ria humana, Deus levantou um fabricante de bugigangas que n\u00e3o fazia nada para preparar o caminho para que um monge espiritualmente perturbado e seus sucessores recuperassem a Palavra de Deus e reiniciassem a hist\u00f3ria da reden\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n
